Your relationship stays yours.

Your characters, Chily chat history and memories are stored on your phone. Chily does not require an account, does not show ads and does not sell your data. Hosted replies pass through Chily's inference service to the AI provider. You can also use your own OpenRouter key. API keys are stored in the device's secure keystore and are never included in backups.

Questions

Is it free?: Yes to start. Every install gets a free allowance of hosted replies. When it runs out you can add your own OpenRouter key and pay the provider directly. Chily adds nothing on top.
Do I need an API key?: No. You only need one if you want to keep going past the free allowance, or if you would rather use your own from the start.
Can I bring characters from other apps?: Yes. Chily imports Character Card V2 files, PNG or JSON, and keeps the source exactly as written. What it can and cannot run is shown per card, with no fake "fully compatible" badge.
Can I take them out again?: Yes. Export any character as a card, and export a backup of characters, chats, personas and presets in one file. API keys are never inside a backup.
Is there an iPhone version?: Android is in early access on Google Play now. iPhone early access is through TestFlight, and the App Store button appears on this page when it is live.
Who is it for?: Adults, 18 and over. Private one-to-one conversation and roleplay with a character. Chily is not a social network and not a public character catalogue.
